Fed up with annoying adverts?

Some time ago, when I had had enough of annoying facebook adverts for such items as incontinence pants (I’m only 53 for goodness sake!) my daughter told me about ‘adblock’.  I installed it, and it’s works!  … and no, I’m not on commission.

You can find more about it here:

However, I’d also suggest that you read the following to make sure you are happy:

Very interesting, Phil, I wasn’t aware of any of this before.

There seems to be some discrepancy between what the company says and what the critic says. Does Adblock automatically allow any “acceptable” ads through, or only ones that are both “acceptable” and pay for the service?

This may be a great service for users, but it seems like a very cunning plan to make money of other internet sites. In some senses it is like a parasite, or even a protection racket – it doesn’t contribute anything to websites with ads, but still makes money out of them. But of course it contributes something to us.

    Thanks. Worth thinking about.
